Jason Scolnick picked up the guitar when he was eight, and he never put it down. After earning his BA in Economics at Harvard, Jason followed his true passion and began playing music professionally. Jason attended Berklee Music College, and though he did learn a lot there, he still considers himself primarily self-taught. Some of Jason's guitar heroes include: Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jerry Garcia, Eric Clapton, Jimi Paige, John Lee Hooker, Tony Rice, and Clarence White. Jason loves to blaze away on guitar solos inspired by the greats, but as well as listening to his favorite guitarists, he also listens to just about everything under the sun, and appreciates all types of music. Jason plays leads, grooves and rhythms on the guitar, but he has also always been an avid composer and vocalist, never losing sight of the bigger picture — The Song!!!
Jason has extensive professional experience performing around New England and the United States. His 30+ years of playing and performing rock, blues, folk, and bluegrass can help you along your musical path. Jason plays and teaches both acoustic and electric guitar, and he ensure that you learn what you want at a pace and speed you find enjoyable. In his own words: "If you aren't sure what you want to learn, we can explore together until you find what you're looking for. I have tremendous patience as well as good insight as to how each individual student can best learn. If one method isn't working for you, we'll find one that does. One of the great things about teaching is that by helping you maximize your potential I learn something in the process as well. I've taught all ages and all levels, and in 20 years of teaching I've learned that every student brings a unique energy and perspective to learning. That unique spark is what motivates me and is what I find most compelling about being a teacher."
