Paul Wright loves to perform and is an accomplished player of multiple instruments in many genres. His passion for music is rooted in sharing the music-making experience with others, especially as a mentor. With several years of experience teaching guitar, cello, piano, and voice, Paul jumped at the chance to work with Jammin' With You students.
Paul's first instrument was voice, starting with grade school choruses and children's choirs. In high school, Paul performed with and directed an a cappella ensemble and landed lead roles in school musicals. While at Dartmouth College, he joined and later directed the Dodecaphonics, the elite coed singing ensemble on campus. Paul now sings in the Boston area with acoustic rock act Tall Heights.
Next came the cello, which he began playing at the age of 8. He went on to study with Tim Terranella at the Joy of Music Program in Worcester, with VSO principal John Dunlop at Dartmouth College, and with Silvio Rigini at the Accademia Internazionale di Musica in Milan, Italy.Over the last 15 years, Paul has played his cello in a variety of musical settings, from small ensembles and orchestras to jam sessions with rock musicians. Paul’s line- up of instruments also includes piano and guitar. With 10 years of performing and ensemble experience, he turns to these instruments most in his song-writing, and loves arranging and transcribing radio tunes with them.
After producing his own collection of singer/songwriter tunes in 2006, Paul teamed up with guitarist and vocalist Tim Harrington to form Tall Heights, an acoustic duo comprised of vocals, guitar, and cello, and sporting a refreshing, unique flavor of acoustic/folk/pop. The two recorded an EP at the storied Long View Farm Studios in 2008 before adding a drummer and bassist to their roster. With this bolder, fuller sound they began hitting the Boston club scene regularly, and released their debut album to a sold-out Boston crowd in 2009. Tall Heights now performs all over New England, wowing audiences with their raw talent and musical craftsmanship.
