Jamographic location: In-home lessons, Greater Boston

His jams? Rock, R&B, Funk.

Jammin’ since: Age 4

Jam pedigree: Ben began playing piano as a toddler and began drum lessons staring at age 8. He was in his high school marching and jazz bands as well as a member of the UT Tyler Small Combo Jazz Ensemble (during sophomore year of high school). Part of Berklee College of Music’s class of 2016, Ben has a degree in Professional Music with a focus in drum set performance and music production, as well as a Berklee Online Pro Tools Certification.

How he jams with you: Ben has been teaching since high school and has learned much about what works and what doesn't. “The most important aspect I consider is what the student and the parents are wanting out of the lessons,” says Ben. “Sometimes they are completely different and sometimes they are not.” At times that means balancing a student’s musical taste and yearnings with a parent’s desires. Ben believes it’s possible to make everyone happy.

Jam de force: Ben recently went on a month-long tour of Canada and the Northeast with Boston’s Dead Messengers, supporting Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter/guitarist Bombino.
