What’s the jam? Piano, Violin

Schools of jam: Maria started playing the violin at age 3 ½, first studying the Suzuki method, then switching to a traditional classical repertoire. She was part of Temple University’s Youth Chamber Orchestra and studied with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra in middle school and high school. In addition, she studied jazz and fiddle. Maria holds a degree in violin performance from Berklee College of Music.

Extrajamicular activities: As a freelance performer, Maria has shared the stage with Dolly Parton, Gillian Welch, Wyclef Jean, Florida Georgia Line, Mark O’Connor and Ben Rector.

Jamplementation: With 15 years of instruction to her credit, Maria teaches music for Berklee Latino and group string classes in public schools.
