Nigel Yancey

Ed-jam-ucation: Nigel began musical training at home under the tutelage of his father, developing a lifelong passion that earned him a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies from California State University Northridge (2011) and a Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance from New England Conservatory (2017). 

Jams of note: From 2011-13, Nigel toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra across the continental United States, Canada and Japan, performing in large concert halls and schools. In 2012 the band recorded and released "In the Mood,” on which Nigel plays 2nd Alto Saxophone and Clarinet. He freelances in the Boston area and beyond, providing music for various events, including musical theater productions in theaters from Maine to Florida.  

How he’ll jam with you: Nigel has taught privately since 2005, for students of all age groups and levels. He focuses on fundamentals of musical development, both technically and theoretically, as well as encouraging students to set personal goals for practice and performances.
