Who’s Taking Flute Lessons

Ages 7–10: Discovering the Flute

What is the best age to start flute lessons?

Most students are ready between ages 7 and 10, depending on hand size, coordination, and ability to support the instrument. Our instructors are happy to help determine when your child is ready.

Do beginners need experience before starting?

No. Our private flute lessons are built for complete beginners as well as experienced students. We introduce concepts step by step while building proper technique from the first lesson.

Do I need to own a flute before lessons begin?

Students should have access to a quality beginner flute for practice. If you’re unsure whether to rent or buy, our instructors are happy to recommend reliable options.

What styles of music do students learn?
